Medical Marijuana has been the source for great debate since its was first legalized on a state level. Since that time 11 more states have joined the medical marijuana reform.

agree with about the responsibility of doing drugs. Its all in moderation. Alcohol is still worse for you though.

It's no worse than alcohol. Not saying alcohol's good, but hey. If people want to do drugs, it's their job to do it responsibly.

I'm all for this. And I think it's just around the corner - although it will happen state by state, not federally. So if you're in Georgia, you're gonna be shit out of luck bro.

Under the new administration medical marijuana growers no longer have to fear DEA interference. States are now free to pass marijuana laws as they see fit!

I still think it would be a boon to the economy. It's one of those things that could bring a huge amount of cash into the government, and doesn't hurt people.

Agreed.
I say if you're an adult, and you're not hurting anyone, do whatever you want.
However, getting it for underaged kids? You should be shot on sight.

I think its totally about the cash that is driving California to think about legalizing marijuana!! Darn CA debt....

The primary reasons that it was made illegal was so the timber industry and Dupont's new patent for plastic could reap larger profits...
...follow the money

It's de-criminalized in the state of MA, I don't see any harm in it. I think it's just gotten a bad rap from some people who associate it with worse things...
Plus, imagine how much cash the government would make off of it!

Wait....
What were you... (cough, cough) talkin' about, man... (he said waving his hand trying to clear some of the smoke lingering around him)

It's about time. Think how many deaths are caused by alcohol each year in relation to those caused by marijuana. And no one is questioning the legality of alcohol!

I just feel bad for the guy. He represents his country to the best of his abilities in the Olympics, breaking record after record because of his hard work, diligence and preparation. So he smoked pot. That shouldn't allow the public to scrutinize him

Concur. Weed really isn't that bad. Just got a bad rap from some people who weren't into Jazz--at least, that's what I hear.

So lame, this country's perception of Mary Jane.

At least it's better than "my hero marijuana." People make mistakes...society needs to not be so uptight sometimes.

I'm glad this thing died down. What a bunch of hypocrits jumping on Phelps when most the people criticizing him have prolly done the same exact thing (just didn't take a picture).

Well, if doctors can prescribe it, then we can tax it. Why not, right?

This was bound to happen. I'm sure it will perpetuate and extend to other cities in CA.

Taxing marijuana in Oakland. A new revenue source for a cash strapped city.

1.8% still sounds a bit low, but I agree that such measures must be taken.
