Is Blerp free to use?
Yes, it's completely free to join. Registering an account is very simple and getting involved in discussions is even easier.
What do I see when I check out a discussion?
In concept, our platform creates a virtual space on top of websites that you visit. That is why you are able to post text, photos, and videos on top while still being able to see and interact with the webpage itself.

When you visit a specific discussion, you will see the website the discussion is on in the main frame, the Blerp bar on the left, and the Blerp header across the top. The website itself is accessible, just as you would expect when viewing it outside of Blerp. The Blerp bar is where you can follow the ongoing discussion and also post your own blerps. And the Blerp header is just the standard navigation bar that you see on every page of our site.
How do I browse for ongoing discussions?
The easiest way to find fun and interesting discussions is through our Home Page. Here, we have three main sections for you to browse:

1) In the Now Blerping section, you will find the most active discussions being talked about right now. You can click on the more link to get to a page with an even larger selection to choose from.

2) The Today's News section features the discussions going on about the day's top headlines. You can sort by news category based on your interests and preferences. The more link takes you to an archive page with news discussions from days past.

3) The Top Topics section features current and interesting topics that people are talking about. The more link takes you to an archive page with many more topics.

If you already have a favorite website in mind, type it in the browse field on the right side of the Blerp header. This will take you directly to the website and show any ongoing discussions happening there.

One last option is to perform a keyword search for discussions. You can also use the browse field for this purpose or click on the find discussion field in the Home Page.
How do I start a new discussion?
Starting a discussion is a great way to raise awareness of a new subject matter or to show your loyalty to your favorite band, sports team, tv show, etc. There are several different ways to create your own discussion:

1) Click on the discuss button at the top right of the Blerp header. This will open up a dialog that will guide you through the simple process. All you have to do is think of a catchy title for your discussion and a website to put it on, along with a few more details.

2) Go to your discussions tab in your profile page and click the start a discussion button. This will bring up the same dialog for you to complete.

After you complete the process, you will be taken directly to it along with the website it's on. That way, you can start blerping right away!
How do I change the information for discussions I've started?
If you go to Profile and click on the discussions tab, then click on the owned filter you'll see a manage button in each discussion you've started. The dialog fields will look very similar to the options you saw when you first created the discussion. You can edit anything from your discussion's title to its access permissions. Feel free to even change the image thumbnail every once in a while to keep things fresh.
What is a community discussion? Who is the user 'community'?
Discussions come in two basic flavors: user-owned discussions and community discussions. User-owned discussions are created and controlled by specific users. Community discussions are created by our system and are not owned by anyone - everyone can view them and blerp on them. You'll find a community discussion on every site you visit, and you may even be the first to view or blerp on them.

You can tell what kind of discussion you're looking at by checking the info in the Blerp bar. It will say community if it's a community discussion, and it will show the owner's username if it's a user-owned discussion.
How do I blerp?
When browsing through a discussion, you'll see the Blerp text field on the left at the top. Click on the text field and start typing to create a comment.
Comments Comments are the easiest way to blerp. Just write what you want to say and click the blerp button. You'll see your comment get added to the ongoing discussion immediately.

Widgets let you blerp a variety of different content on discussions. You can use them to post pictures, videos, formatted text, and more. To blerp a widget, just click on the widget you want to post and a dialog will show up within the Blerp bar. Fill out the fields and blerp away. Every widget is slightly different, but they're all easy to use. Try them all!
What are the different types of widgets?
When blerping, you'll see a set of filters above the widget icons, which you can use to sort through widgets and find the one you want. By default, it is set to top, which displays the most popular and frequently used widgets. The remaining filters are based on category and are sorted by what they allow you to do.

The easiest way to get familiar with the different widgets is to just give them a try. Although each widget is slightly different, they're all really easy to use. Also, we're constantly adding new, exciting widgets, so be on the lookout. We're always open to any suggestions as well.
How do I position my blerps on top of websites?
Positioning your blerps on top of websites is a great way to give them more emphasis and context. It's really simple - click and drag the title bar of the blerp, move it to where you want it to appear, and click the save position icon on the window. Then, any user who opens your posts from the Blerp bar will see it come up in that position.

Just remember, you can only position your own blerps. Also, don't forget to click the save position icon to lock in the placement.
How do I hype a discussion? What about adding a discussion or user as a favorite?
While using Blerp, you're bound to come across some great content. For this, we have two cool features that we encourage you to use.

The first is hyping discussions that you like and want to help promote. Every discussion page will have a thumbs-up icon above the post blerp section. If you like that discussion, click the hype icon and give it your stamp of approval. This will help that discussion gain popularity, and it even might become featured on our home page. Of course, if it's a discussion you've started, a little self-promotion couldn't hurt.

The second feature available to you is a favorites option. This is a great way to bookmark some of your favorite discussions and follow other Blerp users who post fun content. You can find the favorites star icon next to the hype icon in discussions. Once an item is added as a favorite, you can go to your discussions tab under Profile, then click the favorite filter to view them. It's a nice, convenient shortcut to get to the things you like most.
How do I make follow other users?
You can follow another user just about anywhere you see their username. Click on their username and a menu will appear with an option to follow. You can also add them by visiting their profile.

When you follow someone, they are sent an alert. You can find alerts from other users following you by going to the alerts tab under Inbox.
How do I share a discussion or page?
When you come across a discussion or user home page that you like, you can share it with anyone by clicking the green share icon that is near the hype and favorite icons. When you do so, you'll see a list of options, which allow you to either share by e-mail or share online.
Why was my account suspended?
Accounts are suspended after receiving numerous reports that a user is posting inappropriate content. We have a Report Abuse system in place to allow users to flag certain discussions or blerps as being adult content, spam, offensive, disrespectful, or copyright infringement. If your discussions or blerps are flagged by other users, you will receive warning e-mail notifications giving you the chance to edit or remove the material. After repeated offenses, however, your account will be suspended. In this case, all your discussions and blerps will be removed by our system, and you will not be allowed to log into your account.
